Renin-Angiotensin System

1. Functions

   • Controls Ion copositin of the blood (via stimulation of aldosterone secretion)
     • Increases water reabsorption in distal convoluted tubule
       • Increases blood volume
   • Increases blood volume
     • By increased water reabsorption (distal convuluted tubule - via aldosterone)
     • Causes vasoconstriction in arterioles

2. Throughout the day the blood volume remains within a normal range and doesnt change from this despite intake of fluids

   • Function of kidneys removing excess fluid
   • If blood volume begins to drop this is reversed by an increased reabsorption of water by the kidneys
