   • USE : An expert using it to find information on network configuration
   • ADVANTAGE : Fast to execute
   • DISADVANTAGE : A lot of typing

2. Graphical User Interface

   • USE : A primary school maths programme
   • ADVANTAGE : Fun to use
   • DISADVANTAGE : Requires more processing power to display

3. Menu Driven Interface

   • USE : MP3 player
   • ADVANTAGE : Simple Interface
   • DISADVANTAGE : May be limited by screen size

4. Speech Recognition Interface

   • USE : Allows the user to interact using natural written or spoken language. For example an in car navigation system to input destination
   • ADVANTAGE : Quicker than typing
   • DISADVANTAGE : Problems with regional accents or foreign words

5. Game Playing Devices

   • Using joysticks to control a plane in a flight simulator
   • ADVANTAGE : Gives greater realism to the game

6. Touch Screens

   • Used as an input device allowing a person to make on screen selections
   • ADVANTAGE : No need for mouse and keyboard
   • USE : A mobile phone to dial or enter information

7. Biometric Devices

   • USE : Retina scanning to gain access to a room
   • ADVANTAGE : Individual to the user
