1. Unhappy Citizens

   • Workers
     • Female workers protest because of lack of bread
       • Rationing
       • Grew Louder & Larger as rumors spread: men joined in. Protest became more about the removal of the tsar
         • Authorities brought in soildiers
           • Soildiers contributed to the peasents & citizens 'Peasents and workers in unfiorm'
             • Had to bring in the Tsar
       • FEB 1917

2. WWI

   • Tsar away at the home front
     • 'Politically an idiot'
     • Situation in capital was getting out of hand
       • Tsar ordered the troops to shoot the protestents if they do not disperse : did not end the protest
         • Army wasn't happy about shooting the protestors: chief officer has lost control

3. kronstadt

   • key naval base
     • Sailors treated no better than animals
       • supressed war between sailors & officers
       • protested: officers prisoned / executed
   • After the abdication
     • Direct form of democracy
       • Development of their ownlaws

4. the Tsar

   • Weakened power: No inherent heir
     • Abdicated the throne
       • 'Bloodless Revolution'
         • new ideas
       • Provisional Government
         • Still wanted to take war with Germany
       • Lenin
         • Revolutionary
           • stubborn / believed what he said was all true
             • "Peace, Bread, Land"
               • People did not want war: went to the streets to protest. Asked help in kronstadt
                 • Aim: Over throw the potential gov.
                   • Demonstration turned bloody: the gov. shot at the crowd
