2. Medieval (1350-1500)

   • 1347 sanitary act (keeping the streets clean from waste)

3. Renaissance (1500-1750)

   • Gin Act 1750
     • People were drinking Gin rather than water because it was cheaper
   • Plague measures

4. Industrial(1750-1900)

   • 1842-Chadwicks report published
   • 1848- Public Health Act (not compulsary , was abandoned after a while)
   • 1853-Government makes smallpox vaccine compulsary
   • 1854- John Snow links cholera to dirty water
   • 1858- Great stink leads to new sewers
   • 1875-Public Health Act (made compulsary this time!)

5. Modern( 1900-present)

   • Liberal reforms
   • 1948- National Health Service (NHS)
   • Public health education in schools
