Flashcards
How to correlate beds + Chronostratigraphy
Flashcards do conjunto (3)
- 1How do you correlate beds?1) Similar lithology
2) Similar fossils
3) Use unconformities
4) Marker beds (key beds) - (ex. coal bed)
5) Similar succession - 2What is chronostratigraphy? The study of layered rocks based on time.
- 3In chronostratigraphy, what are the left units verses the right units?Left = Chronostratagraphic units (physically there)
Right = Time units (cannot touch)
ex. System & period
