  1. Volume & it's units

    • What are solids?
    • Solids are objects having a definite shape and size. They come in different shapes, like cubes, cuboids, spheres, etc. These kinds of objects occupy a certain amount of space, which is called volume.
    • What is Volume?
    • The measure of the amount of space occupied by a 3D (solid) is called it's volume.
    • UNITS OF VOLUME:
    • 1) Cubic Centimeter
    • We denote cubic centimetre by cu.cm or cm3.
    • 2) Cubic Metre
    • We denote cubic metre by cu.m or m3
  2. Volume of a cuboid (With questions)

    • Q1. Find the volume of a cuboid with length 4cm, breadth 3cm, and height 1cm.
    • Length of cuboid = 4cm
    • Breadth of a cuboid = 3cm
    • Height of a cuboid = 1cm
    • Volume of the cuboid = Length x Breadth x Height = 4 x 3 x 1 = 12 cm3
    • Q2. Find the volume of a cuboid who's length is 16cm, breadth is 12cm and height is 8cm.
    • Length of cuboid = 16cm
    • Breadth if cuboid = 12cm
    • Height of cuboid = 8cm
    • Volume of cuboid = Length x Breadth x Height = 16cm x 12cm x 8cm = 1536 cm3
  3. Volume of a cube (with questions)

    • Q1. Find the volume of a cube whose each edge measures 8cm.
    • Length of each side of the cube = 8cm
    • Volume of the cube = Side x Side x Side = 8cm x 8cm x 8cm = 512 cm3
    • Q2. Find the volume of a cube whose each edge measures 14cm.
    • Length of each side of the cube = 14cm
    • Volume of cube = Side x Side x Side = 14cm x 14cm x 14cm = 2744 cm3
    • Q3. Find the volume of a cube whose each edge measures 6cm.
    • Length of each side of the cube = 6cm
    • Volume of the cube = Side x Side x Side = 6cm x 6cm x 6cm = 216 cm3
  4. Word Problems (Volume of cuboid)

    • Q1. How many bricks, each 24cm long, 125 cm wide and 8cm thick will be required to build a wall 18m long, 15m high and 50cm thick?
    • Length of the wall = 18m = 18 x 100cm = 1800cm
    • Breadth of the wall = 50cm
    • Height of wall = 15m = 15 x 100cm = 1500cm
    • Volume of the wall = Length x Breadth x Height = 1800 x 50 x 1500 = 135000000 cm3
    • Length of a brick = 24cm
    • Breadth of a brick = 125cm
    • Height of a brick = 8cm
    • Volume of a brick = Length x Breadth x Height = 24cm x 125cm x 8cm = 24000 cm
    • Number of bricks needed = Volume of wall/Volume of 1 brick = 135000000/24000 = 5625
    • Therefore, the number of bricks needed to build a wall 18m long, 15m high and 50cm thick = 5625
  5. Word Problems (Cube)

    • Q1. Each edge of a cubical box measures 160cm. How many cubical packets of edge 8cm can be packed in it?
