     • Sympathetic NS

         • Prepares for "fight-or-flight"
           • e.g., increased HR, pupil dilation, conversion of energy stores (fat and glycogen) to glucose
     • Parasympathetic NS
       • "Brakes" "Deactivates"
       • Responds to SNS creating states of relaxation
         • e.g., decreased HR, activation of digestion & elimination, conversion of glucose to energy stores (glycogen & fat)
     • Regulates Involuntary Movements
       • e.g., Digestion, Respiration, Heartbeat & Autonomic Arousal
   • Somatic Nervous System (SNS)
     • Voluntary Movement
       • Relays signals from senses
         • Controls Skeletal Muscles
   • Afferent Nerves - "Sensory or Receptor" nerves, carry info from SENSE ORGANS to CNS
   • Efferent Nerves - "Motor or Effector" nerves, carry info from CNS to MUSCLES & GLANDS
