   • iconic (visual information) coded visually - duration of less the 1/2 a second
   • echoic (sound/ auditory information) coded acoustically - duration of 2-3 seconds
   • high capacity
   • store for each of our senses
   • all memory stores are unitary (one part seperate from eachother)
