1. ROM

   • ROM stands for Read Only Memory
   • ROM stores the data needed to run the computer/device
   • It is Non-Volatile meaning that the content is still saved when your device is turned off
   • Has permanent instructions - How to load, How to print etc.

2. RAM

   • RAM stores the data and instructions while you are using the programs
     • Programs such as PowerPoint, data from open files, the operating system
   • Has temporary messages
   • RAM is Volatile meaning that your data is lost when your computer is turned off

3. Virtual Memory

   • Virtual memory is volatile
   • When RAM runs out of storage, Virtual memory is used to store instructions and data
   • Its purpose is to process instructions
   • It is stored in secondary storage
