    1. To identify what level of obedience would be displayed when participants were told be an authority figure to administer an electric shock

      2. METHOD
        1. Lab Experiment
          1. Sample= 40 men
            1. Between the ages of 20 and 50
              1. From New Haven, New York USA
              2. Volunteer/Self selected sampling method
              3. FINDINGS/RESULTS
                1. 100% obeyed the experimenter and went up to 300volts
                  1. 65% delivered shocks up to the maximum 450volts
                    1. 26/40
                  2. CONCLUSION
                    1. Milgram concluded that the social setting is a powerful influence on behaviour
                      1. We are socialised to recognise authority and act with obedience
                        1. For example, Policeman or Teacher
