Flashcards

Channel State information and Precoding

L H Comms PhD English 7 cards

Cards in this deck (7)

  1. 1Channel state information (CSI)Known properties of a communication link including the combined effect of:
    scattering
    fading
    power decay with distance etc.
  2. 2Instantaneous CSI (Short term CSI)Current channel conditions ie. the impulse response of a digital filter.
  3. 3Statistical CSI (long term CSI)A statistical characterization of the channel including, eg:
    fading distribution type
    average channel gain
    line-of-sight component
    spatial correlation
  4. 4What can be done with the knowledge of the instantaneous/statistical CSI?Optimization of the received signal for spatial multiplexing or to achieve low bit error rates.
  5. 5Training/Pilot SequenceA signal to be transmitted which is known by the receiver.
  6. 6What is a pilot sequence used for?The channel matrix can be estimated by comparing the known transmitted pilot signal to the received signal.
  7. 7Least-square estimation (minimum-variance unbiased estimation)Approximates the solution of overdetermined systems by minimizing the sum of the squares of the residuals.
