OOP

Cards in this deck (11)
- 1What is a programming paradigm?A style of computing programming.
- 2What is the difference between procedural and OOP programming?Procedural: Series of instructions that are made up of procedures (functions).
OOP: Programming uses classes & objects. Structures program into simple, reusable pieces of code (classes), used to create instances of objects. - 3What are classes in OOP?Blueprint used to create more specific, concrete objects, often broad e.g. Car & share attributes. Defines attributes & beh (methods).
E.g. ID number - 4What are objects in OOP?Data items that are an instance of a class.
E.g. If the class was animals, dog would be the object. - 5What is polymorphism, found in OOP?This is when a subclass redefines a method found in the superclass.
E.g. RemoveItem() removes last item from list but used in subclass to remove first item of list. - 6What is inheritance, found in OOP?A subclass that inherits attributes from superclass but in addition may have its own.
- 7What is a constructor?A procedure that creates new objects.
E.g. public procedure new ('parameters') - 8What is encapsulation?Bundling of data/ methods to hide internal state of object (attributes). This controls read or write access.
Often done using getter and setter methods. - 9What are the advantages of using OOP?- Needs extensive planning = better design
- Reusability
- Good framework for code libraries
- modular structure = easier maintenance
- Encapsulation: source code of object written/ tested/ maintained separately from other object code. - 10What is a class diagram?Consists of diff classes to be used w/ attributes & methods.
Inheritance of subclasses-superclasses shown.
- 11How would you display a new instance?public procedure new (playerID)
theplayerID = playerID
boardposition = 0
Money = 2000
