1What is the purpose of the CPUthe CPU fetches instruction from the computer, decodes the instructions and then executes the instructions. It controls the operation of all parts of the computer.
2FDE cycle (fetch,decode,execute)The CPU performs the fetch-decode-execute cycle, which repeats over and over again until the stop instruction.
3factors affecting the performancethe amount of cores (more cores faster it works)
clock speed (more hertz the faster the instructions are executed)
memory access time ( if its in the CPU the files will be accessed quicker than if they are outside the CPU for example in the hard drive or RAM
4coresonly one cycle can be executed at one time in each core however if there are more cores there will be more files processed.
5clock speedhow many cycles per second the CPU can execute it is measured in hertz.
6memory access timecache (accessed fastest)
RAM (a bit slower)
hard drive ( furthest away longest time for files to be fetched)
7control unitresponsible for decoding the instructions controls the flow of data within the system
8ALU (arithmetic-logic unit)carries out calculations and logical decicions.
