- 4What are extraneous variables?Variables that are not part of the study but can affect the DV reducing the validity of the study
- 5What are the 3 key factors that can influence Internal validity? (whether the study measures what it intends to measure)Controls-Things that can be done to isolate the IV & DV
Test validity- Whether the questionnaire or test is a true test of that behaviour
Experimental realism- Whether the ppts believe the situation to be true/real - 6What are the 3 types of external validity? ( if the findings can be generalised to other people)Population validity- ethnocentric, androcentric or oestrocentric
Historical validity- if the findings are true for other periods such as today
Ecological validity- if the findings are true to the real world - 7What is a self report?Where the participants report their own thoughts, beliefs and behaviour to the researcher
- 8What are the two types of questions?Open- where you can reply in any way, and in as much detail as they like
Closed- The answers are limited and words have been chosen - 9What are the two types of interview?Structured- use a set of questions, with some deviation from the set questions
Unstructured- The researcher develops new questions as they go along
