NUMBER

Cards in this deck (16)

  1. 1WHAT ARE THE FIRST 15 SQUARE NUMBERS1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, 196, 225
  2. 2WHAT ARE THE FIRST 5 CUBE NUMBERS1 8 27 64 125
  3. 3WHAT DO ALL PRIME NUMBERS END INApart from 2 and 5, all Prime Numbers end in 1,3,7 or 9 - Not all numbers that end in these are prime however
  4. 4WHAT IS A MULTIPLEExamples:
    • 12 is a multiple of 3, as 3 × 4 = 12
    • −6 is a multiple of 3, as 3 × −2 = −6
    • But 7 is NOT a multiple of 3
  5. 5WHAT ARE FACTOR TREES ?A method used to find a numbers prime factors, For example:WHAT ARE FACTOR TREES ?
  6. 6WHAT IS THE LCMThe lowest common multiple is the smallest number that will divide by all of the numbers in the question
  7. 7HOW TO FIND THE LCMExample: Find the LCM of 4, and 6
    Multiples of 4 are: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24...
    Multiples of 6 are: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36...
    The LCM is 12
  8. 8WHAT IS THE HCFThe highest common factor is the biggest number that will divide into all of the numbers in the question
  9. 9HOW TO FIND THE HCFHCF of 108 and 24
Find their prime factors (Factor tree)
    2 × 2 × 2 × 3 = 24
    2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 108
Then multiply the common ones together
    2×2×3 = 12
The greatest common factor will be 12
  10. 10HOW TO MULTIPLY A FRACTIONStep 1. Multiply the top numbers
Step 2. Multiply the bottom numbers
    Step 3. Simplify the fraction
    HOW TO MULTIPLY A FRACTION
  11. 11HOW TO DIVIDE A FRACTIONStep 1. Turn the second fraction upside down ( It is now a reciprocal)
Step 2. Multiply the first fraction by that
Step 3. Simplify the fraction (if needed)
    HOW TO DIVIDE A FRACTION
  12. 12HOW TO ADD FRACTIONSStep 1: Make the denominators the same
    Step 2: Add the numerators
Step 3: Simplify the fraction (if needed)
    HOW TO ADD FRACTIONS
  13. 13HOW TO SUBTRACT FRACTIONSStep 1: Make the denominators the same
    Step 2: Subtract the numerators
Step 3: Simplify the fraction (if needed)
    HOW TO SUBTRACT FRACTIONS
  14. 14HOW DO WE CONVERT FROM PERCENT TO DECIMALdivide by 100 and remove the "%" signHOW DO WE CONVERT FROM PERCENT TO DECIMAL
  15. 15PERCENTAGES 15% of £4615% = 15 / 100 = 0.15
    0.15 x £46 = £6.90
  16. 16PERCENTAGES A TOASTER IS REDUCED IN PRICE BY 40%, IT ORIGINALLY COSY £68, WHAT IS THE NEW PRICE OF THE TOASTER40% = 40 ÷ 100 = 0.4
    0.4 x £68 = £27.20
    £68 - £27.20 = £40.80
