Computational Thinking

Cards in this deck (7)

  1. 1What are the several stages of breaking down problems?1. Understand the Problem
    2. Formulate the Problem
    3. Design an Algorithm
    4. Implement the Algorithm
    5. Run the code and solve the original problem
  2. 2What is abstraction? This means turning reality into a model that can be processed. With big problems, this requires another fundamental approach
  3. 3What is decomposition? The top-down approach is a popular and successful way to produce complex computer systems. It has the advantage that big problems become many small problems that are easier to formulate into solutions
  4. 4What is top-down problem solving?What is top-down problem solving?
  5. 5What has aided the approach of structured programming?Sequencing
    Selection
    Iteration
  6. 6What is object-oriented programming? Is a way in which decomposition is routinely used to solve programming problems. Objects consist of isolated program units containing code and data. These are built together to form a complete solution
  7. 7What is the aim of algorithms? To produce a process that will work on a generalised representation of a problem. We need to ensure that they are correct and efficient. Proving an algorithm is incorrect can be trivial whereas proving one is correct is much more difficult and requires mathematical induction
