Flashcards

Parallel Circuits

Adam Collinge Additional Physics GCSE English 12 cards

Cards in this deck (12)

  1. 1How are parallel circuits connected? Each component is separetly connected to the +ve and -ve of all the supply
  2. 2What happens if you remove or disconnect a component in a parallel circuit? It will hardly affect the others at all
  3. 3How is P.D distributed across a parallel circuit? The P.D is the same across of components
  4. 4What does the voltage being the same across all components in a parallel circuit do to components? Use bulbs as an exampleThey all work at the same levels, e.g the same brightness in bulbs
  5. 5How is current distributed in a parallel circuit? It is shared between branches
  6. 6In parallel circuits, what is the total current flowing around the circuit equal to?The total of all the currents through separate components, e.g A=A1+A2+A3
  7. 7What makes a circuit parallel? It has junctions in the wiring, where the current either splits or rejoins
  8. 8The total current going into the junction...... has to equal the total current leaving the junction
  9. 9When will the same amount of current flow through two components? When they are identical and connected in parallel
  10. 10What are the two devices that are exceptions to the series and parallel rules?Ammeters and voltmeters
  11. 11How are ammeters always connected? In series even in a parallel circuit
  12. 12How are voltmeters always connected?Parallel with a component even in a series circuit
