Intramembrous Ossification
Mesenchymal stem cells aggregate and differentiate into osteoblasts
These form ossification centres
Peripheral osteoblasts continue to differentiate
Secretion of osteoid
Osteoid is secreted inwardly, trapping some osteobasts
These osteoblasts become osteocytes
Osteoid starts to calcify and harden
Continual deposition of osteoid leads to tabecular and compact bone
Mesenchymal stem cells differentiate into the periosteum
Internal trabecular bone becomes filled with red bone marrow
