1. Every machine makes resources available to every other machine on the network

2. No central computer

3. Each node is this type of network is equal to any other node

4. Each node can act as a stand alone device

   • Can share data back and forth with other nodes at any time

5. If node is fax, printer, modem, tape-backup drive it can be shared by any other node

6. Not necessary to have a file server

7. Performance is slowed down and file management is complicated

   • Many illegal sites closed down and administrators prosecuted

9. VoIP

   • Skype
   • Uses P2P network technology
