Reflexive Verbs

1. secarse

   • 1. Remove se and then conjugate the verb secar.
     • Yo - seco
       • Tú - secas
         • Él/Ella/Usted - seca
           • Nosotros/Nosotras - secamos
             • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - secan
   • 2. Add se back to the beginning and then conjugate it so it matches the verb
     • Yo - Me seco
       • Tú - Te secas
         • Él/Ella/Usted - Se seca
           • Nosotros/Nosotras - Nos secamos
             • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - Se secan

2. ponerse

   • 1. Remove se and then conjugate the verb secar.
     • Yo - pongo
       • Tú - pones
         • Él/Ella/Usted - pone
           • Nosotros/Nosotras - ponemos
             • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - ponen
   • 2. Add se back to the beginning and then conjugate it so it matches the verb
     • Yo - Me pongo
       • Tú - Te pones
         • Él/Ella/Usted - Se pone
           • Nosotros/Nosotras - Nos ponemos
             • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - Se ponen

3. Steps

   • 1. First take the se out of the reflexive word and move it to the front of the word
   • 2. Change the se to the correct pronoun Me, Te, Se, Nos, or Se
   • 3. Conjugate the left over verb

4. Stem Changing Verbs

   • Stem changing verbs are verbs that are changed in the I, you, he/she, and they forms
     • After you stem change them, you can then follow the steps to conjugate them correctly for reflexive verbs
   • O becomes ue (acOstarse)
     • 1. Remove se and conjugate the verb while also changing the stem verb
       • Yo - acuesto
         • Tú - acuestas
           • Él/Ella/Usted - acuesta
             • Nosotros/Nosotras - acostamos
               • The we form does not get stem changed
               • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - acuestan
     • 2. Add se back to the beginning and then conjugate it
       • Yo - Me acuesto
         • Tú - Te acuestas
           • Él/Ella/Usted - Se acuesta
             • Nosotros/Nosotras - Nos acostamos
               • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - Se acuestan
   • Some E become ie (despErtarse)
     • 1. Remove se and conjugate the verb while also changing the stem verb
       • Yo - despierto
         • Tú - despiertas
           • Él/Ella/Usted - despierta
             • Nosotros/Nosotras - despertamos
               • The we form does not get stem changed
               • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - despiertan
     • 2. Add se back to the beginning and then conjugate it
       • Yo - Me despierto
         • Tú - Te despiertas
           • Él/Ella/Usted - Se despierta
             • Nosotros/Nosotras - Nos despertamos
               • The we form does not get stem changed
               • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - Se despiertan
   • While other E's become i (vEstirse)
     • 1. Remove se and conjugate the verb while also changing the stem verb
       • Yo - visto
         • Tú - vistes
           • Él/Ella/Usted - viste
             • Nosotros/Nosotras - vestimos
               • The we form does not get stem changed
               • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - visten
     • 2. Add se back to the beginning and then conjugate it
       • Yo - Me visto
         • Tú - Te vistes
           • Él/Ella/Usted - Se viste
             • Nosotros/Nosotras - Nos vestimos
               • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes - Se visten
