1. Optical Storage

   • Examples include DVD player, CD player and Blu Ray
   • Advantages include portability
   • Disadvantages include not being very durable compared to solid state. This is because of its moving parts Therefore if broken, data can still be retrieved

2. Magnetic Storage

   • Examples include Hard disks and Floppy disks
   • Advantages include it being cost effective due to having a larger capacity than solid state. Therefore you can have more applications
   • Disadvantages include being not as durable compared to Solid State. Therefore if it was broken your data could not be retrieved

3. Solid State Storage

   • This uses microchips to store data instead of magnatised disks and don’t contain any moving parts
   • Advantages include Solid state is more durable and can read/write data faster than magnetic. It is also more energy efficient
   • Disadvantages include it being less cost effective compared to magnetic due to it having a smaller capacity it also has a limited read/write span
   • Examples include mobile phones and sd cards
