1. Phases

   • waning - less of the moon is showing. Dark from the right
   • waxing - more of the moon is showing. Light from the right

2. Eclipses

   • Lunar - the Earth casts a shadow on the Moon. This happens during a new moon.
   • Solar - the Moon casts a shadow on the Earth. This only happens during a full moon

3. Tides

   • Neap Tides
     • A tide that occurs when the difference between high and low tide is least. Neap tide comes twice a month, in the first and third quarters of the moon.
   • Spring Tides
     • A tide that occurs when the difference between high and low tide is greatest. Spring tides come twice a month, approximately at the full and new moon
   • Tides are cyclic, they occur in cycles. To determine the next tide, figure out how many hours between tides and add it to the last tide.
