     • ransomware
       • ransomware is malware which encrypts users files and demands a ransom to decrypt them
     • botnet
       • a botnet is a network of computers which contain malware allowing them to be controlled by a hacker
     • keylogger
       • keyloggers are a type of malware which records every key pressed and then they send it to a hacker
   • phishing
     • phishing is a common scam, its used to gain access to your social media/ bank accounts.
     • They send you a fake email which looks like the banks/ social medias login page and takes you to a fake website
     • The victim enters their user and password and then the scammer has access to their page or details allowing them to use it on the real page.
   • malware is malicious software that designed to cause harm
   • hacking is unauthorised access to a computer material

   • security software - antivirus
     • sometimes called antivirus however deals with more than just viruses
     • it scans computers for known malware and removes it
     • it must be kept up to date with latest malware definitions
   • white hat hacking
     • white hat hacking is hacking done with authorisation of the company being hacked.
     • the hacker produce the report of all vunerabilities they find, so then the company can fix them
   • grey hat hacking
     • grey hat hacking is hacking without the authorisation of the company, with good intentions
     • the company is often informed about how the hacker has access
   • backups
     • keep a copy of important data on a different system, so can restored if the original is damaged
