Text Based Game

  1. Prescribed Criteria

    • Your story must have at least 10 different variables in total
      • Add a wide range of choices and actions the player is able to choose from
      • The code must add 3 -4 more variables to the given game code
      • The game must implement multiple variables the match the game's storyline
    • You must have at least two choices for each input (IE. Yes | No, Left | Right, Buy | Sell)
      • The game must give the player a number of specific actions that they will be able to do
      • Each action must include multiple options that either adds an ending or another number of choices
      • Every player decision point must display a minimum of two explicitly stated choices
    • You must use a WHILE loop
      • The game must have a path/s that require a condition to be met to be able to complete
      • In the game while loops must control the core game loop, keeping the game running until a specific win, lose, or exit condition is met
      • Game must implement a while loop to count down a specific number of moves or turns, forcing an event to happen when the counter hits zero (for health bar)
    • You must use variables that match your storyline
      • The game must add certain enemies, obstacles, or objects to fit the theme of the game
        • Eg. enemy zombies that will attack the player in the game
      • Give multiple choices that explore the themes of the game
      • Change the variables from the given game code to better match the story of the new game
  2. Existing Text-Based Adventure Game

        • Add items and varables that follow the Story of Zombie apocalypse. Add zombie in the game that decrease health counter or even kill them.
    • Track Players Username
      • Helps the game feel more interactive to the player and makes it easier to track in the game

    • Assignment
      • Variable remembers a certain value it was given
        • DECLARE player_name DECLARE healht_count SET player_name TO bianca SET health_count TO 5
    • Selection & Condition
      • Sn outcome/event will occur only if a specific condition is met
        • IF player has a key THEN OUTPUT "door has been unlocked" ELSE OUTPUT "Please insert a key" ENDIF
    • Iteration
      • Repeat any actions or event throughout the game
        • Use If loops to allow diffrent outcomes for a diffrent sequence of choices, making it more interactive and enjoyable for the player
    • Modulation
      • allow us to take large complicated programs and divide them into smaller manageable pieces
        • Use to organise the game code and makes it easier to spot or fix the mistakes that occir

    • If statement
      • Does an action if the conditions are met
