     • Software written to infect computers and commit crimes such as fraud.
   • effects
     • the computer may crash, reboot spontaneously or slow down with out any logical explanation
     • when a worm infects a computer, the internet connection may become slow, as the worm searches online for other people to infect
     • files may be deleted, become infected or encrypted. However, the worst symptoms of malware are often the ones you dont see. Malware may be designed to record the keys that you press on your keyboard, for example, creating a text log that a computer sends to a hacker periodically. The hacker then scans the text logs that he can use to access your email or bank accounts.

   • definition
     • Phishing is an online technique used for fraud by criminals to entice you to use to disclose personal information such as usernames and passwords
   • effects
     • Accessing a victims account and withdraws money or purchase merchandise and services
     • Financial services can blacklist institutions, resulting in repourtational damage
     • Gaining high value corporate data
     • Create new bank or credit card accounts in the victims name, and use the new account to cash illegimate checks or ourchase merchandise
