kenya

  1. people are attracted to Kenya because of the natural habitat, animals and the thrill and edge of nature and dangers of nature, and an escape from cities and towns

  2. problems for the masai mara park are >hot air balloons making noise and disturbing the animals, animals being poisoned by litter, the transporters for the balloons tear up the ground and so do the tourists travelling in the cars around the park in the rainy season and so h litter is left that some animals like storks now rely on humans

  3. tourism impacts on the traditional culture of the masai tribes >because they live in the park they are now part of the tour, they were moved without compensation, they can no longer wonder all over the land like they used to because it is for the tourists, they have to fence in their livestock which gets in the way of wild animals migrating, the masai tribes rely on tourist purchasing their gifts they make like bracelets which is now their way of making money instead the traditional way

  4. the coastal resort of Mombasa has many social problems > 10 more hotels are built every year, the tourists may have bad influences on the towns people by wearing clothing that they may consider inappropriate looking appropriate like the Islamic people having to cover their entire body whilst tourists wear swimming costumes, the demands of tourists can make local issues overlooked, tourists bring drugs, sex and alcohol to the resort which increases prostitution.

  5. in Mombasa there are over 200 different species of fish and 140 corals, but the glass bottomed boats carrying tourists go to the reef at low tide and so can crush them, people who stand on the corals kill them and the fish who need them to live, dropping anchors on the reef kills or damages the coral, fisherman's nets can destroy it and tourists taking home the star fish and the shells which are home for marine life kill them off.

  6. in the Swahili town of lamu and the tsavo national park manage tourism by keeping the local Islamic culture strong, having no large hotels and few bars, the tourists are encouraged to dress more appropriately and there are few camps or lodges on the land of the park
