Intro to Programming
Algorithm
- A sequence of instructions for the processes the computer can do in a programing language.
- These can be simple or complex
Low level programing language
- a programing language that only captures the basic operations that the machine can do.
- all computers can function on low levels of programing language
High level programing language
- A programing language that has many commands and features designed to make common tasks of programing easier.
- This is done through several low level commands.
iterate
- repeat
- many functions repeat a set of steps to make it complete.
selection
- a statement that causes you to choose something.
sequencing
- the order the computer will execute the commands.
turtle programing
- a method to learn programing with commands to control the movement of a "turtle" robot
function
- a named group of programming
abstraction
- a simplified version of something more complex
top-down design
- a problem solving approach that has you break down the problem or task into smaller bits and work on one bit at the time
API
- a collection of commands made avalible to the programmers
Documentation
- a description of the behavior of a command, function, API, etc.
library
- a collection of commands/functions
parameter
- an extra piece of information that you put into a function to customize it while allowing it to be more general
loop
- a programming constrict that repeats a list of commands
