RAM is the most common type of memory
RAM stands for 'Random Access Memory'
If a compuer loses power, all data stored in the RAM is lost
It can be accessed randomly without touching preceding bytes
RAM is a fast temporary type of memory data storage
RAM is how applications and data are stored
ROM is memory that cannot be changed by a program or user
ROM retains it's memory - even if the computer turns off
e.g. ROM stores instructions for the computer to turn on again after it shuts down
Stands for 'Read Only Memory'
Volatile is used to describe memory lost when the computer shuts down
RAM is volatile
ROM is nonvolatile
