Passwords
Policy
- Organisations that take data security typically have a comprehensive password policy that they ask employees to follow.
- Where practical, the organisation's software and system settings should support this policy. The policy typically covers both the creation and protection of passwords
Creation
- Passwords should be made complex and hard to figure out or guess.
- Passwords should not be words found in the dictionary, familiar names (family or pets).
- Using initial letters from memorable phrase, mixing lower- and upper-case letters and numbers is useful for creating complex passwords.
Protection
- Passwords are our first point of defence for our files and personal information
- Default passwords should be changed as they are commonly used and easy to work out
- Passwords should be changed, never be written down, not to be shared with anyone else and not to have too sensitive information in them.
Safety
- Make sure not to share your password with anyone.
- Online people or companies may try to trick you as no company like your bank even will ask for passwords and information.
