     • Electron Shells
       • -Electrons Occupy Shells -lowest energy shells filled  first -2 -8 -8 - most elements are missing electrons in the outer shell making them react
   • Nucleus
     • - Middle of the atom - positive charge overall -tiny space
     • Protons
       • Positively Charged
     • Neutrons
       • No Charge

2. Elements

   • - consist of only one type of atom - 100 different types
   • Compounds
     • -Atoms join to make compounds -Properties are diffent from their elements
     • Bonds
       • Ionic
         • -Formed between a metal and non-metal -actually involves the movement of an electron -forms a cation and anion
       • Covalent
         • -sharing of electrons
