       • stores data fetch from memory

     • program counter
       • stores single address
       • stores address of next instruction
   • accumulator
     • store data from alu
   • holds instructions addresses and small bits of data in the cpu

     • the more clockspeed the more FDE cycle done per second

     • the more cores the more FDE cycles can be done at once
