Factors that affect computer performance
Clock Speed
- More fetch-decode-execute cycles can run per second so data and programs load faster.
Cache
- Can access frequently used data faster, data and programs load faster.
Number of cores
- More instructions can be processed at once so programs and data will load faster.
Amount of RAM
- Doesn’t need to rely on virtual memory as much and more data and programs can be open without affecting computer performance.
Use of solid state hard drive
- Has a faster read/write speed so data and programs will load/save faster making programs and data load faster.
Use of magnetic hard drive
- Slower read/writer speed so will take longer for files to save/load so will make performance slower.
