Primary storage

1. ROM

   • Non volatile
     • the contents are not lost when power is lost
   • Read only memory
     • Cannot be saved into
   • BIOS stored here
     • Usually a few MB in size

2. RAM

   • Random access memory
   • Volatile
     • RAM is cleared when power is off
   • Any running applications stored here
     • Usually a few GB in size

3. Primary storage cannot be used for saving user information and documents into. This is why we have secondary storage
