   • Easily manipulated, fickle nature, obsession with aesthetics, outcast - not as accomplished, naïve, eager to gain Emma's approval
     • Volume I Ch IV: E convinces H that Mr Martin is not 'the one'
     • Volume I Ch VII: From eager and excited about the proposal to "I have now quite determined, and really almost made up my mind - to refuse Mr Martin. Do you think I am right?"

2. Her inaccurate superiority (not actually as superior as she thinks she is), selfish & with high self regard, arrogant, spoilt, naïve in the ways of the world

3. oblivious to reality, values practicality as opposed to emotion, hypochondriac, has benevolent idiosyncrasies.

   • MR WOODHOUSE
   • Volume I Ch I: Can't understand that Miss T is fortunate to have gotten married. He doesn't understand why she wants a life of her own - with love.
   • Volume I Ch I: Randalls being too far to walk. He believes they may get a cold. Also being upset by the richness of the cake

4. Caricature, talks/stammers a significant amount, spinster

   • Miss Bates

5. Too ingratiating (wanting to please and be liked), too eager to please, fake/a façade (disingenuous), language and behaviour is ambiguous, over exaggerated and pompous
