Mark, Octavius, and Lepidus list who they
must kill. Lepidus is going to get Caesars will
so that they can change it.
Antony does not think Lepidus is
worthy of a part in their empire. He is
only their to ease the load of their
work. After Lepidus out lived his
purpose, he can just stick around, not
have power though.
They will fight
Brutus and Cassius.
Brutus is upset. He wants to talk to
Cassius. Cassius is angry, treated
lucilius with less friendliness. Lucius
says that in order to save their
friendship, they need to talk about
their problem.
Pindarus is
Cassius' servant
Cassius is really angry. Brutus
tells him that they should
argue privatley so that their
armies don't hear them.
"you've done me
wrong"
Cassius accuses Brutus of publicly disgracing Lucius Pella for taking bribes
even though he wrote letters. Brutus says that he shouldn't have
interfearred. He also says that Cassius shouldn't be talking bc he takes
bribes.
They killed Caesar out of justice, if we
don't stand by justice now than we are
just murderers. We cannot become those
people.
Brutus says that Cassius is crazy. He doesn't want to observe
Cassius. He says that Cassius is not a noble man or a good soldier.
"How can I endure this"-Cassius
Brutus is mad at Cassius because he did not give him
money and won't get money by bribery. Cassius denies
it. Says that Lucilius was a fool
Cassius says that Brutus is not being a good friend. He wants Octavius and
Antony to kill him now if he can't be a friend to Brutus and a slave to the
people. Wants Brutus to stab him.
They make up.
A poet wants to see both Brutus and
Cassius. He wants them to be friends
Brutus tells Cassius that Portia is dead. She was impatient
of brutus and grief that Mark Antony and Octavious had
become so powerful. She commits suside.
Octavius and Antony's troops are in Philippi.
Messala and Brutus get letters that say that
Octavius and Antony use the law to kill the
senators.
Cicero is dead
Brutus is also accepting death and is contemplating suside. Cassius
doesn't want to march to Phillipi so that the enemy's soldiers are
weak. Brutus doesn't want to wait them out because their men are
only loyal to them because they force them to be. Marching will make
them refreshed, encouraged, and added energy.
The ghost of Caesar enters. Tells Brutus that he
will see him at Philipi. He tells some people to tell
Cassius to leave to Phillipi before him and his
troops.
Doesn't have much
sorrow, Is emotionaly
detatched because of
Caesar
Cassius is very emotional
Lucilius says that they need to
beat them down in order to
clam Cassius' anger
