-By 1900's U.S natural resources were threatened due to carelessness
-Forests/prairies had been leveled by farmers, threatening new growth timber and healthy soil.
-Lumber companies did not replant trees they cut down.
-Cattle and sheep had overgrazed the Great Plains also threatening soil health.
-Rivers were polluted by city sewage, threatening safe drinking water supply and wildlife.
