How it works:

Infra-red rays sent across screen from the edges

Sensors around the screen

Rays from grid across screen

Ray is broken

Calculations by microprocessor to determine where the touch was

Advantages:

Multi-touch capabilities

Optical system: bare or gloved fingers, stylus

Good screen durability

Disadvantages:

Relatively expensive tech

Heat-sensitive only bear fingers

Only fair screen visibility in strong light
