Interrupts A Level Computer Science

Cards in this deck (5)
- 1What is an interrupt? The computers way of diverting away from the sequential nature of completing instructions.

- 2What would happen without interrupts?Without interrupts the computer would continue to finish all the instructions for a given program and then check if there are any interrupts.

- 3How do interrupts work? This is how they work.

- 4What are the types of interrupts?I/O interrupts
Timer interrupts
Hardware interrupts
Program interrupts - 5When do I/O interrupts occur? They occur when the computer is performing a data transfer operation. For example, if you started a transfer of a file from main memory to a USB and you removed the USB during the transfer the computer generates an interrupt preventing further transmission of data as address is no longer reachable
