- 1What is the definition of Participant Observation?The researcher is actively involved with the participants.

- 4What is the definition of Covert Observation?When the participant group are unaware that they are being observed.
- 5What is the definition of verstehenWhere life is seen from the viewpoint of people observed.
- 6Are observations a micro theory or a macro theory?Micro theory- favoured by Interpretivists since they generate qualitative data.
- 7Suggest 2 reasons why participant observation may produce more valid data. (4)1) You have a 1st hand insight of the group (verstehen).

3) Can research working of the group, which means that you can observe their different roles and actions. - 8Suggest 2 ethical problems of using observation. (4)1) Informed consent- participants must be informed to make a decision to take part.
2) Deception- morally wrong to lie to participants.
3) Safety of the researcher- covert observation can put researcher in jeopardy.
