Autumn 1918 - the German army was on the point of collapse
November 9th - Kaiser abdicated and fled to the Netherlands
11th November - the provisional government agreed to an armistice which brought Germany's fighting in WW1 to an end
January 1919 - first time the newly elected Constituent Assembly met in Weimar
Germany became republic
