Hardware
CPU
- fetch, decode and execute
- changes them into usable instructions
- the brain of the computer
- Gets instructions from the RAM
- fetch, decode and execute
CPU
- clock speed
- the clock speed how many cycles of fetch, decode and execute can be done in a second
- measured in Hertz
- one Hertz = one instruction
- Sends the instruction to the appropriate piece of hardware
- One Hertz = one instruction
- Has "Cores"
- CPU hardware
- The ALU (Arithmetic processing unit)
- Performs mathematical and logical processes
- The CU (Control Unit)
- gets instructions, decodes them and executes them. it calls on the ALU if necessary
- Cache memory
- Memory caching is when data is stored on super fast static RAM (SRAM)
- Disk Cahce is used to improve Reading/ writing time on hard drives
- The ALU (Arithmetic processing unit)
- clock speed
RAM
- Stores instructions that the CPU Decodes
- the applications
- Volatile
- memory is deleted when the PC turns off
- RAM increases your PC's speed
- Stores instructions that the CPU Decodes
ROM
- stores PC boot up instructions
- Involatile
- Memory stays when pc is turned off
- Cannot be editted
Virtual memory
- Sores instructions the CPU doesn't currently need
- usually twice as much as RAM
- Stored in Hard drive
- if your PC doesn't have enough RAM for what your doing, it will use virtual memeory
- Virtual memory has security purposes as well
- this is due to the memory being isolated from the RAM
