   • Info lost through decay
   • CAPACITY: Very limited
   • DURATION: Less than 2 secs
   • ENCODING: Unprocessed form

3. 2) SHORT TERM MEMORY

   • Recieves stimulus from sensory memory through attention
   • Info lost through decay & displacement
   • CAPACITY: Very limited, apprx 7 items or the amount we can pronounce in apprx 2 secs
   • DURATION: Very limited
   • ENCODING: Mainly acoustic

4. 3) LONG TERM MEMORY

   • Info recieved from STM by maintenance rehearsal
   • Info lost through decay, retrieval failure & interferance
   • CAPACITY: Unlimited
   • DURATION: Unlimited (Up to a lifetime)
   • ENCODING: Mainly semantic
