2What is the duration of short-term memory?
- A18-30 seconds
- B15 - 32 seconds
- C9 - 30 seconds
3What is the capacity of short-term memory?
- AIt has an unlimited capacity.
- B7+/-2 items.
- CVery small capacity.
4What happens to old information when new information arrives in the short term store?
- AOld information gets moved to the long-term memory store as it has been there the longest.
- BThe old information stays, but the new information gets pushed out.
- CThe new information pushes out the older information, with the oldest pieces of info getting pushed out and displaced.

8What did Jacobs do that supported displacement theory?
- AHe gave participants trigrams and they had to count backwards in 3's from 100 for 15 seconds.
- BHe gave participants a 169 lists of 13 nonsense syllables and asked them to test themselves over a period of time.
- CHe gave participants a set of digits that got progressively longer each time, and the participant had to repeat the digits each time.
9Jacobs concluded that the STM has a limited capacity and new info has the potential to displace old info.
