Fichas del conjunto (7)
- 1Give the three ways in which countries manage migration.1) Points-based system
2) Limits and targets
3) Controlling illegal immigration - 2What do points-based systems do?Allow countries who they want to let in
- 3How does the points-based system work?People who want to move are given points for things like; age, education, wheteher they speak the language and work exp. Only those with enough points are allowed in so only the most skilled immigrants are allowed in
- 4What are limits and targets, in terms of immigration? They are set by some countries to make sure they don't let too many or few immigrants into the country
- 5How do countries measure the limits and points system?By looking at factors like how many jobs are available and public opinion. If the limit has already been reached in a year, then no more immigrants are allowed in
- 6How do some countries cope with illegal immigrants? They can be arrested and dined, then abdicated from the country. People who house illegal immigrants can go to jail
- 7How has the UK changed to cope with immigration?Theres no limit, but immigrants have to register, if they intend to work. Also, the UK has tightened control on new EU countries like Bulgaria and Romania, meaning those immigrants need permission from the home office to actually immigrate
