What make up the atlanto-occipital joint and it's function? Occiput and C1 It allows flexion/extension of skull
What is the atlantoaxial joint and it's function? C1 and C2 It allows flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and rotation of the cervical spine.
Where is the anterior longitudinal ligament and it's purpose? It covers the anterior aspect of the vertebral disk from body to body. It prevents excessive extension of the spine and protects disk from popping out anteriorly.
Where is the posterior longitudinal ligament and it's purpose? It covers the posterior aspect of the vertebral disk from body to body. It prevents excessive flexion of the spine and protects disk from popping out posteriorly.
What are the osteokinematic motion of the cervical spine? Flexion Extension Lateral flexion Rotation
What is the loose pack position of the cervical spine? Midway between flexion and extension.
What is the close pack position of the cervical spine? extension
What is the capsular pattern of the cervical spine? Lateral flexion Rotation Extension
What are the osteokinematic motion of the thoracolumbar spine? Flexion Extension Lateral flexion Rotation
What is the loose pack position of the thoracolumbar spine? Midway between flexion and extension
What is the close pack position of the thoracolumbar spine? Extension
What is the capsular pattern of the thoracolumbar spine? Lateral flexion Rotation Extension
