Tremors Involuntary and rhythmic movements
Tics Sudden, brief, coordinated movements with jerks and usually noise or sounds. In pt's w/ Tourette
Chorea Irregular contractions that are rapid. In pt's w/ Huntington's disease
Dystonia Sustained contractions that cause twisting, abnormal postures, and repetitive movements.
Atheosis Slow twisting and writing movements. Can than become either chorea or dystonia.
Akinesia Inability to initiate movement
Asthenia General muscle weakness due to cerebellar disorder
Ataxia Inability to perform coordination of movements
Bradykinesia Slow movements
Clonus Strong spastic alternating movement due to an upper motor neuron lesion.
Cogwheel rigidity Resistance to a point than free movement than resistance....
Dysdiachokinesia Inability to perform rapid alternating movements
Kinesthesia Awareness of body parts and joints in space
Lead pipe rigidity constant resistance throughout the whole ROM
Dysmetria Inability to control ROM and force of it
Agnosia inability to interpret info
Agraphesthesia inability to recognize letters, numbers, or symbols through touch
Astereognosis Inability to recognize objects by touch
Decerebrate rigidity Corticospinal lesion which results in extension in the whole body
Decorticate rigidity Corticospinal lesion which results in extension everywhere besides the UE's
Diplopia double vision
Dysarthria slurred/impaired speech from motor deficit
Hemiparesis condition of weakness on 1 side of the body
Hemiplegia Paralysis on 1 side of the body
Homonymous hemianopsia Blindness on 1 side of both eyes
Ideational apraxia Inability to formulate or initiate motor planning
Ideomotor apraxia Able to plan out a motor task but is unable to perform it
Nystagmus Abnormal eye movement typically rhyhmic and is faster on 1 side than the other
Perseveration State of repeating a task over and over
Vertigo Feeling of the room is spinning
