5. What are elements normally classified by? Metallic and non-metallic elements
6. Give 5 Examples of metallic elements: -Gold -Iron -Copper -Tin -Mercury
7. Give 5 properties of metals: Metals are: -Malleable -Ductile - Good conductors of heat + electricity -Solid at room temperature -Lustrous
8. What does "malleable" mean? When a metal can be bent and hammered into sheets
9. What does "ductile" mean? When a metal can be stretched into wires
10. What is special about mercury? It's the only metallic element that is liquid at room temperature
11. What is one property of iron? It can be shaped into a spring
12. What is one property of gold? It is mostly used for jewelry
13. What is one property of copper? It has a typical metallic shine
14. What is special about non-metallic elements? They are the exact opposite of metallic elements
15. Name 3 properties of non-metallic elements: They: -Tend to be dull -Don't conduct heat nor electricity -Are brittle and break up easily
16. What is special about "bromine"? It's the only non-metal which is liquid at room temperature
17. What is special about "iodine"? It forms crystals at room temperature, but turns to a purple gas when heated
