MATHEMATICS a group of related sciences, including algebra, geometry, and calculus, concerned with the study of number, quantity, shape, and space and their interrelationships by using a specialized notation
ALGEBRA a branch of mathematics in which letters and other general symbols are used to represent numbers and quantities in formula and equations.
TERM is either a single number or variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together.
NUMERICAL COEFFICIENT the numerical part of the term
LITERAL COEFFICIENT a letter with a fixed value in a term
EXPRESSION A FINITE COMBINATION OF SYMBOLS that is well-formed according to rules that depend on the context
EQUATION a mathematical statement that indicates the equality of two expression
OPERATOR a symbol that shows an operation (i.e. +, -, /)
SUBSTITUTE to put in the place of another
RULES OF INTEGERS (Technique in 4 operations) Two like signs becomes a positive sign Two unlike signs becomes a negative sign
NEGATIVE EXPONENT means how many times to divide one by the number.
