Cell The smallest unit of life in living things. Cells take in materials and release energy and waste products.
Cell Membrane The flexible structure that holds a cell together, gives shape, provides a boundary.
Cytoplasm Is a gel-like substance in which cell parts move and where many of the cell's life activities take place.
Mitochondrion The energy of a cell needs to carry out it's life activities is released from food.
Nucles Controls most of the cells activities.
Vacuole Is a storage area for food, water, minerals, and waste.
Chromosome Contains DNA. DNA is a chemical that controls what traits an organism will have.
Cell Wall Found in plants, algae, fungi, and some bacteria. The cell wall is a thick outer covering located outside the cell membrane.
Cellular Respiration Food and oxygen is changed into carbon dioxide and water and energy.
Photosynthesis They convert energy into food needed by the plant.
Chloloplast Are green organelles that trap energy from sunlight and turn it into food.
Tissue Are groups of similar cells that all do the same work.
Organ Is a structure made up of two (2) or more different types of tissue that work together.
Organ System A group of organs that work together.
