Question Answer
What is the equation of momentum? Momentum = mv
What is the conservation of momentum? Total momentum of all objects before = total momentum of all objects after. (TMB = TMA)
What is an elastic collision? A collision in which both kinetic energy and momentum are conserved.
What is an inelastic collision? A collision in which only momentum is conserved.
What is the vector nature of momentum? Direction is important, momentum to the right has a positive sign and momentum to the left has a negative sign.
What is the equation for impulse? Ft = mv - mu
What does the term Ft mean? Ft stands for impulse and is equal to the change in momentum.
What is Newton's 3rd law? This law states that if an object A exerts a force on object B then object B will exert and equal and opposite force on object A.
